Chloe & Tim: Vintage love at Kantara House

kantara house, green point

Two high school sweethearts stood hand in hand, wrapped in the kind of magic that only first loves and forever promises can create.

Chloe and Tim

From passing notes and playful antics in Year 7—where Tim's not-so-subtle attempts to get Chloe's attention involved tossing bits of paper her way in the front row—to a charming white chapel framed by palm trees, their journey has been nothing short of a modern-day fairytale. This is the love story of Chloe and Tim, high school sweethearts whose connection grew from childhood mischief to a lifelong bond, culminating in a day filled with timeless romance and heartfelt vows. Chloe and Tim remind us why we’re obsessed with what do. Real love, real moments, real magic.

The Venue: Kantara House

The white ‘Charlotte’ wedding chapel is the highlight of the Kantara House experience, nestled on a sprawling 4.5-acre estate that feels like a secluded paradise. Just 90 minutes from Sydney, this tranquil oasis offers an escape from the everyday. With on-site accommodation, a stunning chapel, and reception facilities for up to 140 guests, it provides everything you need for the perfect wedding day. The property’s breathtaking backdrops—tropical rainforests, a picturesque vineyard, and a rural paddock—set the stage for unforgettable photographs and a complete wedding experience, all within one stunning location.

Sydney Weddings by Honey Lane

Describe the vibe you wanted to create for your day?

Tim and I came in with an open mind and were more than happy for HoneyLane to lead the way! We always knew we loved whites and greens for florals but everything else was HoneyLane’s ideas and they did a spectacular job.

What made you decide on hiring a wedding stylist/coordinator for your wedding?

Honey Lane popped up on Instagram for us while we were in the midst of wedding planning. We fell in love with the styling pictures we scrolled through and instantly knew we needed Honey Lane in our life! We believe the styling and coordination of a wedding are the main parts of what makes a wedding come together so beautifully. Hiring Honey Lane was a no brainer!

Tell us about your ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’!

Something old – My grandmas (my mum’s mum) pearls that I wore with my second dress that my mum gave to me. Something new – Jimmy Choos. I wore the Saeda 100, Ivory satin pumps with crystal embellishment. The satin on the heels was almost identical with the material of my dress. Something borrowed – Sydney Mustangs…Tim’s dream car!

Something blue – My Oma (my dad’s mum who has passed) had made me a white handkerchief she embroidered with lace, and it was in my glory box. I opened my glory box when Tim and I bought our own home this year. I decided I wanted to get the date of our wedding day embroidered on the handkerchief and give it to my dad on the wedding morning.

Tim – what was going through your head as you were waiting at the alter?

Tim – I felt like time stood still and I had been standing there for hours. But once the doors opened for the first time and the bridesmaids entered, I felt a sense of relief. As the chapel went silent and everyone stood and turned to wait for Chloe’s grand entrance, I started to tear up waiting anxiously for the doors to swing open. When they finally did, I was in shock to see Chloe looking more beautiful then I could have ever imagined.

Chloe – what was going through your mind as you waited in front of the doors of the chapel?

I was super nervous but excited to see Tim! I barely slept the night before, worrying about sharing my vows as I get anxious public speaking. But when I saw Tim’s face as I walked in, all my nerves disappeared, and I felt pure happiness.

How did we help incorporate personal touches that reflected your personalities in the event styling?

Tim and I love to travel. Honey Lane incorporated this by creating place cards representing different destinations around the world for our guests. These cards were displayed at the reception entrance, with space on the back for personal messages. We have kept these cards as a lovely keepsake from our wedding day.

Was there a service or aspect of our styling and planning that you found unexpectedly valuable?

Stress reduction. I can’t thank Honey Lane enough for this as Tim and I both walked into our wedding day completely stress free and so happy!

Favourite moment from your day?

One of the most cherished moments of the day was riding in the back of the Mustang with my Dad to the wedding. Walking down the aisle with Dad and seeing Tim for the first time that day, after having spent the night apart, was truly special. Despite feeling extremely nervous beforehand, seeing Tim at the end of the aisle brought a sense of calm, and I experienced unparalleled happiness. I have never felt such joy in my entire life.

Did you feel like you were able to take it all in?

Yes! The day went quickly, but we took everything in and stayed present with each other. One of my favourite moments was seeing the reception space for the first time. We were amazed by Honey Lane's work and felt truly lucky that everything was done for us on our special day.

Words of advice - anything you’d like to share with future couples?

Trust your vendors and let them take the lead. Our vendors exceeded our expectations, and everything was perfect. Stay present on the day and enjoy every moment with your partner, as it goes by quickly.

Tell us about your dresses and all the amazing accessories?

My ceremony gown was designed by Corston Couture. I selected the Temptress gown, complemented with detachable custom draped sleeves. The pearl necklace I wore was a gift from Tim, purchased during our trip to Vietnam in September 2023. My earrings were crafted by Macgraw, featuring a gold poppy flower at the top and extending to a pearl, signifying Tim's favourite flower and adding a special touch to our wedding day.

Following the cocktail hour, I removed the detachable sleeves and opted for the matching neck scarf that accompanied the dress, also designed by Corston Couture. Once the speeches concluded and before the festivities began, I changed into the Edie mini party dress by Kyha studios. For this part of the evening, I wore a pair of small pearl earrings given to me by my late grandmother (my mother's mother) and a large pearl necklace from my mother, which originally belonged to my great-grandmother.

Incorporating the pearls into my outfit was an essential aspect of my day, as they hold significant sentimental value for me and my family.

Tim -tell us about the suit and accessories! Are you glad you had your barber in the morning?

The groomsmen and I all got our suits tailor made at InStichu, Woollahra. We all opted for the same design, a classic tux. We were all identical except for a few minor touches. I had black button, and the boys had silver. Our shoes were a Gloss Jet-Back dress shoe from Julius Marlow. We all found them very comfortable. I also wore my Grand-Fathers Cufflinks (My Dads father) and also my other Grand-Fathers watch (My Mothers Dad) which was a 21st Birthday present to me from my mother. Was great to have the watch and cufflinks as a part of my day since they couldn’t be there with us since they have both passed.

Having my barber there on the day was a great idea! Saved the stress of running the risk trying a new barber I have never been to just before the biggest day and most photographed day of my life. Also gave the boys and I something to do in the lead up before the Photographer and Videographer arrived.

A funny moment or memory from the day?

As the dancefloor started filling up, 2 of my mates had decided to sneak up on Chloe and I and throw us up on their shoulders and dance us around the busy dancefloor while the band were smashing out bangers and everybody dancing around us.

On reflection, is there anything you would do differently?

We wouldn’t do anything differently; in fact we would do it again a million times over.

What did you love most about your Honey Lane Experience?

We love the Honey Lane team! Poppy and Heidi were the best and always ready to answer any questions we had in the lead up to the wedding. The Honey Lane team really went above and beyond for us, and we can’t thank you enough for creating the most magical day. The whole experience with Honey Lane was a dream!

What feedback have you received from your guests about the event?

Our friends and family were amazed by our wedding day, calling it the best they have ever attended. They praised the seamless flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. Honey Lane made everything perfect, from the welcome drinks and beautifully styled ceremony to the stunning cocktail hour and reception setup. Tim and I were speechless with gratitude for Honey Lane's role in making our day perfect. Everyone described it as an exceptionally magical day.

Would you recommend our services to other couples, and if so, why?

We are extremely pleased with Honey Lane's styling services and their coordination efforts. Their assistance allowed Tim and I to relax, be present, and fully enjoy the period leading up to and including our wedding day. We had events such as the welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding day itself, all of which were managed smoothly and efficiently by Honey Lane.

The Honey Lane team invested time to understand both Tim and I and their styling significantly contributed to our special day. Initially, Tim and I were uncertain about our exact desires for the wedding, but Honey Lane created a mood board and provided us with a clear vision. They made the wedding planning process enjoyable and exciting. We will certainly miss collaborating with the Honey Lane team!

Top Tip from Honey Lane - a flower wrapping station

A flower wrapping station at the end of your reception is the perfect way to let your guests take home a piece of the magic from your special day. For Chloe and Tim, we added a personal and romantic twist by wrapping their gorgeous blooms in custom "newlywed newspapers," creating a sweet and memorable gesture that celebrated their love story while spreading beauty and joy to everyone who shared in their day.
